Cornhusker NAMA Tackles the Topic of Precision Ag

Written by NAMA on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 , 10:31 am

Precision Agriculture is rounding the corner and starting to offer some returns for those farmers using it. Cornhusker NAMA hosted a panel for this discussion at the January meeting, hosted at Valmont in Valley.

The panel included Nick Emanuel, founder and CEO of CropMetrics, Mead, NE, farmers Kerry and Angela Knuth, John Campbell, manager of technology advancement and adoption for Valley Irrigation, and Jason Strand, precision ag specialist with Frontier Cooperative.

The panel agreed that technologies being offered today are making it easier to make money-saving decisions from precision ag, change is the biggest barrier to entry, and it is possible to get into precision ag in small steps.

L to R: Angela Knuth, Kerry Knuth, Nick Emanuel, John Campbell, and Jason Strand.

The panel was moderated by Randy Happel.

Are You Up To Speed With What Farmers Can Really Do With PRECISION AG?

Precision Agriculture

Where are we really with precision agriculture? Are farmers saving money with it? Is it helping in this current economy? And how does it really work? Our panel of on the ground experts take us through the technology, the latest offerings, and what farmers like most about it.

Leading the panel discussion will be Nick Emanuel, founder and president of CropMetrics, a leader in variable rate irrigation management. The innovations he develop on his farm are helping growers match water application rates to soil type, conserving water and reducing yield variability. Joining him is top-notch grower, Kerry & Angela Knuth of Mead, NE to discuss precision ag and how it is paying off for growers.

This panel will also include someone from retail and a manufacturing. They’ll discuss experiences and advancements in precision agriculture.
