The Iowa State marketing team had over 20 students involved with this year’s project to market the only available source of fresh, local and high-quality shrimp. \u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Marketing Competition Results:<\/p>\n

2nd place – University of Minnesota
\n3rd place – Kansas State University
\n4th place – University of Wisconsin-Madison
\n5th place – Arizona State University
\n6th place – University of Illinois-Urbana\/Champaign<\/p>\n

Students decide on a project and develop a plan to successfully bring the product or service to the marketplace. In developing their marketing plan, students follow the same practices and principles used by today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s marketing professionals. Teams submit a written plan summary prior to the competition and then make a formal presentation of their marketing plan to a panel of judges at the competition. The judges\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 panel consists of marketing and agribusiness professionals.<\/p>\n

Overall,\u00c2\u00a029 student NAMA chapters participated in the marketing competition. The competition is part of the annual Agri-Marketing Conference. Over 350 student members attended the conference.<\/p>\n

J<\/strong>ohn Deere Signature Award<\/strong>
\nIowa State University won the 2012 John Deere Signature Award, which recognizes the chapters that have accumulated the most points for outstanding student chapter, student marketing competition, ABEF scholarships, membership and participation, and projects and activities.<\/p>\n

Other winners of the 2012 John Deere Signature Award included:<\/p>\n

2nd place – Illinois State University
\n3rd place – University of Wisconsin-Madison
\n4th place – Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College
\n5th place – University of Nebraska-Lincoln<\/p>\n

NAMA’s Choice Awards<\/strong>
\nNAMA’s Choice Awards are voted on by the students during finals of the student marketing competition. This year’s winners were:<\/p>\n
