{"id":12922,"date":"2018-01-18T09:29:30","date_gmt":"2018-01-18T15:29:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.namablog.org\/?p=12922"},"modified":"2018-01-18T09:29:30","modified_gmt":"2018-01-18T15:29:30","slug":"national-ag-day-presents-the-charles-eastin-award-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.namablog.org\/?p=12922","title":{"rendered":"National Ag Day Presents the Charles Eastin Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Deadline is February 2, 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To recognize the contributions of the hundreds of volunteers and leaders in the agriculture, food and fiber communities who are dedicated to increasing public awareness of agriculture\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s vital role in our society, the Charles Eastin Outstanding Service Award will be presented to an outstanding individual who has contributed as an advocate for communications between farm and city.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 The nominee can be any person over 21 years of age.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 The person may be nominated by anyone active in agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 The completed application should be submitted online at\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.agday.org\/charles-eastin-application\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">www.agday.org<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0by\u00c2\u00a0<strong>February 2, 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 A three-member committee, including at least one member of the ACA Board of Directors will judge the applications and select the recipient.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 The award will be presented at the National Press Club on March 20, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 The winner will be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses to attend the annual Ag Day event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Charles Eastin Outstanding Service Award is named in honor of Charles \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Charlie\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Eastin, DVM, who passed away at the age of 86 on January 28, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Eastin played an important role as a board member of the National Farm-City Council for many years. He served as the 35th Chairman of the NFCC from 1992-1994 and through the years, has chaired and served on many committees. Through his efforts, Lexington, Kentucky hosted a NFCC National Conference in the early 1990\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s.
