Debra Bradley\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s heritage Spring Valley Farms.\u00c2\u00a0 Along with his lovely wife, our very own John Bradley, formerly of Monsanto and FB Sciences, played host to the group.<\/p>\n<p>John and Debra have both \u00e2\u20ac\u0153retired\u00e2\u20ac\u009d to a more than full-time job running John\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s family farm.\u00c2\u00a0 It has been designated as a Century Farm as it has stayed in his family for over 100 years.\u00c2\u00a0 They manage 150 head in a cow\/calf operation.\u00c2\u00a0 The beef they produce is sold custom and direct to customers.\u00c2\u00a0 They raise natural beef because they believe in the quality it gives their customers.\u00c2\u00a0 John is proud of their herd health program and believes it keeps them from having to use as many antibiotics (part of their natural beef pledge).\u00c2\u00a0 As if this wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t enough, Debra has 40 bee hives which she manages.\u00c2\u00a0 She has a waiting list for the honey that these hives produce.\u00c2\u00a0 John and Debra have equal roles in all of their operations and it keeps them going 24\/7.\u00c2\u00a0 They look forward to taking on some help so that maybe they can slow down in their \u00e2\u20ac\u0153retirement\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n<p>The NAMA bus arrived mid-morning at the Bradley\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s house, which was stunning in every aspect.\u00c2\u00a0 The group was able to hear the history of the farms and what they currently do while hamburgers cooked outside on the grill.\u00c2\u00a0 After a wonderful lunch, featuring Debra\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s homemade fixings, we boarded the bus to see more of the farms.\u00c2\u00a0 It was like a walk back through John\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s childhood as he showed us where he grew up and the houses his family owned.\u00c2\u00a0 The tour was complete with an up-close look at the 100+ year old barn built by his grandfather.\u00c2\u00a0 Hand hewn lumber, no nails or hinges.\u00c2\u00a0 It was a masterpiece.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0It was a great day for the Midsouth chapter.\u00c2\u00a0 Full of learning, friends, and good food!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To kick off our new year, the Midsouth chapter hit the road for an Ag Tour.\u00c2\u00a0 On September 25, we boarded a bus heading east into the beautiful rolling countryside of western Tennessee.\u00c2\u00a0 Our destination \u00e2\u20ac\u201c John &amp;
